My host says they were doing a server upgrade which was causing the problems. It should be good now.

I've seen this when the clock's gone forwards and backwards on occasion.

Kinda foggy, but it'd be like it was 2:30 right now... the site clock said 3:30 and I'd already posted, and then the clock went back to 3 at 3, I wasn't able to post until it was 3:30.

Sometimes when I log in it says there are xxx new posts but when I click on the New Posts link, it says...I'm trying to remember now what it says, but something about there being no new posts. Then sometimes this doesn't happen.

Also, sometimes the site clock is an hour different than real time. And, no, my computer's clock is correct.

These problems while a little annoying are no huge deal, although the first one does force me to read new posts in a different manner.

This happened to me today for the first time. Before the site was upgraded, after 15 minutes the site would refresh and any new posts you hadn't read would be gone. You'd have to manually search. Now when it does this it logs you right out after 15 mins.

It used to be that when I went to enter a hyperlink I got the option to insert a name which would be highlighted instead of having the entire url there. I know it's just a piece of code to add, but it was so nice to one click a button, fill in the 'name' field and then copy in the url.

If you start typing the name after you add the hyperlink, it will work. The way it has changed is now after you add the hyperlink, the part which is displayed in the text becomes highlighted and can be changed however you choose.

I'm the opposite, I have IE6 at work and it's super-fast here. At home I have IE7 and it crawls even worse than dial-up...it's like Canada Post is delivering the packets.

I was looking into this tonight and one explanation for this was that IE7's phishing filter is causing the slowdown while it checks out the site you're loading.

You can turn it off by doing the following:

1. Start Internet Explorer 7.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Disable Phishing Filter in the Settings list.
4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
5. Restart Internet Explorer 7.

Try giving that a shot and see if it works for you!

I just got rid of IE7. It actually sits on top of IE6. You can simply remove IE7 and your Win XP will revert to IE6.

Well the only problem I have is when a thread gets over around 10 posts it then takes quite a while to load up completly.

I honestly have no idea why some of you have trouble. The site is usually (today excluded) very fast for me at home, my parent's home, at work, at school and everywhere I've ever tried it.

What's the deal with it saying that threads are PHP files? I'm not sure what those are, but it is wanting to open up threads in a different program. It's been 2 hours since I was able to open a thread. Not sure why it worked all of a sudden.

I've cycled between the 2 browsers bringing up the site. I've had the same problems on both, though I will admit they occur less frequently on Firefox.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Opus, but there is no foolproof browser to display the site on....;):p

Without trying to sound like a suck-up.....could we have a better site owner?

Any esksfans members who would like to show their appreciation to this guy should do so by making a donation to the site and help the guy pay for this great place.

I'll be making one myself in the weeks upcoming boss.....

Their reply:

We believe that we have isolated the problems of slowness and timing out to one account, and have suspended the account for the time being. So this shouldn't continue to be an issue. If you continue to experience problems in the future, please let us know and we will continue to investigate.

So hopefully we'll be good from here on out.

Actually, these service providers have multiple websites on one server right...and they refer to them as accounts. So for instance, esksfans.com is one account on a server and on that same server, there are other websites being run. It was one of those other websites that was causing problems in taking up too many resources that has since been suspended.

For those of you who have been esksfans members a while and have a good memory, you may remember that the original host of esksfans.com actually accused us of using too many resources and I was basically forced to switch hosts...

It's turned off. The html img tag is way too lethal. People could use it to **** up my site. That is why the img bbcode is on and ready for you to use.

OK, sorry I didn't explain myself correctly; that's the tag I was trying to use, not the HTML.
