View Full Version : Everything you need to know about Rep Points!

Since there are so many requests asking what rep points are, here is everything you need to know:

Our website incorporates a function known as Reputation. Each member has a reputation based on ratings from other members. You can see your own reputation on any of your posts in the top right under your "time spent in the forums." It is accompanied with a meter of green (or red) boxes showing your reputation level.

The first thing to understand is that every memeber has a reputation power. Your rep power is based on post count, length of membership and your own reputation. For instance, if your rep power is 30, you can affect another member's rep by that amount (either postitive or negative). Your rep power changes based, again, on post count, own rep, etc.

When you want to add (or subtract) rep from somebody, simply click on the apporpriate icon (it looks like a silver scale) on the post you want to rate. You can approve or disapprove and add comments. If you approve, their rep will increase or decrease by your rep power.

You can view your rep (who rated you and their comments) in your control panel.

Final note: You must be registered for a certain amount of time and have at least 50 posts before you can positively or negatively reflect another members reputation.

Capiche?

steller... whats the formula for rep. power?

I really don't know.

If you want to know your rep power, just add (or subtract) to somebody's rep and whatever the change is is your current rep power.

I actually never knew this. There's an area in the Admin section where you can change what they say. I always wondered where that appeared...

Funny, but I did that and for Fishman is said, "Fishman has a brilliant future in prison." Please don't take rep points away from me as that would put me in negative territory.

I think that would take the fun out of it. Some people just shouldn't be pricks when it comes to rep, and some people shouldn't take it so seriously. End of story.

That's the kicker right there.....everyone is entitled to their own opinion and can do what they want. If it wasn't taken seriously, then there would never be an issue.

I don't know why some get worked up over it.....

You can't just demand it like that. You have to earn it with a funny joke.

Hmmm ... the mysteries of Rep power unveiled.

So, since joining in 2007 I have started a mere 18 threads ... and posted a measly 400 times - lol

My Rep power ... is lucky number 7. I think it turned 7 recently, but I'm not entirely certain.

Rep power based on number of posts/threads, length of time on site, and rep points freely give (or subtracted) from others.

I presume then that Rep Power is computer generated, by some formula as others have eluded too?
