No Kidd in Lions plans

Carl Kidd was a central part of a Lions' defence which came within one win of a Grey Cup crown.

Sportsnet.ca -- Carl Kidd has played his last down with the BC Lions, according to reports out of Vancouver.

The veteran linebacker is prepared to test the CFL's free-agent market after the Lions decided against offering the Western all-star a new contract.

In an interview with THE TEAM 1040 in Vancouver, Kidd teed off on management and what he felt was unfair treatment.

"The offer did not benefit me ... I am not being greedy, I just want what I feel is fair."

It is believed Kidd wants a contract similar to teammate Baron Simpson.

"it has nothing to do with Baron. I just want fair value, I feel I bring a lot to the defence of this team, but now I'll see what the market says."

Last season Kidd was fifth in team tackles with 58, and returned an interception for a touchdown.

I think he'd make a great bookend to Mobes (get him signed right F-ing now please) but I don't think that Kidd is worth what Simpson is getting (whatever that is)......

I'd still rather snag Eiben.

I'd still rather snag Eiben.agreed, the question will be moot if he re-ups with T.O before March.15th though.......at least we know that Kidd will most likely not be re-upping with B.C. and can possibly prepare for that...

Kidd is past his prime, and much too expensive. He isnt worth what he'll want.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. Then we could move Grant back into the secondary...

Eiben will most likely resign in TO. If I was the Esks management, I'd see what Kidd's asking and then decide if it's worth the price, seeing as he probably only has about 3-4 solid years left.

Wow, I'm surprised many would be interested in a guy who talks a better game than he plays. As an aging ego-maniac I think he looks to have "Blue Bombers" written all over him...

I wouldn't mind seeing him in green and gold.. he may be 32 but he is still a good LB. And he is very capable of stopping the run...

Almost reminds me of Alondra Johnson when the Riders picked him up.

I do not know why the Eskimos would want to sign Kidd? He is an aging LB that has past his 'best before' date and that does not address the teams needs in the long run. I believe the Eskimos need to find a 'future' LB that is going to lead the defense instead of a cast-off...

yeah, I agree with you KL... Esks are o.k. with vet defenders (provided they make some signings!) . I see their need as more of a 'let's reload before we have to rebuild'.

Like I mentioned in the Elfrid Payton thread, if the Esks want to pick up an aging "star",
I'd prefer Payton over Kidd.
