Tiger-Cats Welcome Thomas, Peterson Back Into Lair

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club is excited to announce that the team has agreed a new one year plus an option deal with tight end Ray Thomas and extended the contract of defensive tackle DeVonte Peterson.

Thomas, a Hamilton native, will return for his third year with the Cats. The 6'5", 250-pound tight end dressed for 18 games this season and emerged as one of the team's premier special teams players, recording 15 special teams tackles.

"Ray has been a valuable player for this team," said head coach Greg Marshall. "He's great on special teams and gives us some different options and looks on offense."

Thomas signed with the Ticats on August 30, 2003, following his release from the Buffalo Bills' training camp. He spent four years at Wake Forest where he started 31 games at tight end for the Demon Deacons.

Peterson, a native of Clinton, North Carolina, signed with the Tiger-Cats in September of 2004. The late addition to the Cats' defensive line suited up for four games and recorded eight tackles.

"DeVonte stepped right into the line-up and made an immediate impact," remarked Marshall "He gives us some added depth along with Adriano Belli and Johnny Scott in our tackle position."

Peterson earned All-America honours from the American Football Coaches Association and the Associated Press during his time with Catawba College of NCAA Division II. He finished his career with 155 total tackles and 23 sacks in 41 career games and set the school record for sacks with 18.0 in his junior year.
