View Full Version : General Guidelines of the Forum: Please Read Before Posting!

07-15-2005, 01:57 AM
The main objective of these forums is to promote positive and stimulating discussion among fans of the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club. In order to help us achieve this goal, we request that the following guidelines are adhered to:

1. Please present your message in a thoughtful, carefully-worded, and coherent manner. It is difficult for other posters to understand, and thus, to respond to, non-sensical gibberish. In order to prevent this from happening, it is highly recommended that you preview each message before submitting it to these boards.

2. Please refrain from posting any offensive content in these forums. This includes, but is not limited to, vulgar and crude language, explicit sexual discussion, and allusions to stereotypes of any kind including race, religion, gender and sexual orientation.

3. Please respect the opinions, thoughts, and ideas of your fellow posters. Obviously, you will disagree with some of the messages on these boards, and you are quite welcome to debate any content in those messages; however, your argument should be presented in a well-constructed, articulate manner which does not offend or insult any other poster.

4. Personal attacks against media members, players and coaches will not be tolerated. We would like esksfans.com to be deemed accceptable and inviting to these individuals, so that they can promote our site in a positive manner and perhaps participate in the forums. While you are free to debate their opinions or activities, using factual and substantial arguments, you may not intentionally "flame" these personalities, particularly in the thread title.

5. Please ensure that your message clearly addresses the main topic of the thread, or at least responds directly to the message of an individual poster. If you would like to discuss an issue which has not yet been presented, then you are welcome to start a new topic, provided that it is related to the forum in which you are posting.

6. Please take the time to read through the list of ongoing threads so that you do not begin a discussion identical, or at least very similar, to one already in progress. Similarly, please read the messages already posted under a particular thread before responding to that thread. This will ensure that you do not post unnecessarily redundant material.

7. The "After Hours" forum is intended for general discussion on any topic. Since the rules are a little more lax, you must be 18 years of age or older to participate in it. Subtle sexual discussion is permitted, and messages do not need to be as thoughtfully constructed as the messages in the Sports Forums do. However, you should still avoid offensive or stereotypical content and crude language, and you should still respect the other posters. The forum entitled "Other Topics" allows minors to discuss non-sports related issues; the general guidelines apply to this forum as well.

8. No pictures are permitted in any user's signature. They slow down the site, chew up expensive bandwidth and are cosmetically unappealing. Please express yourself using the avatar upload option located on your profile page.

9. Any links to websites, pictures, or videos posted on the site in any forum other than "After Hours Discussion" containing possible offensive, sexual, or violent material, must be accompanied with a NWS (not work safe) tag. Feel free to use the :nws: emoticon.

10. Any articles posted from third-party websites need to be accompanied with the original website's link. Furthermore, any articles posted from The Edmonton Journal or Edmonton Sun's websites can only contain a portion of the article and not the full text.

Anyone caught offending these guidelines will initially receive a warning, and if they continue to disrespect the rules, they will be permanently banned from future use of this site.

Thank you for your co-operation.
The Management Team,
Frito's Fan & Angelus
