Found this out from my doctor. The PET scan machine, while still available for more routine uses, is only operated on a 2 days one week, 1 day the next.

Reilly vs. Nichols - And the winner is...?

One of the biggest question marks going into camp is at the position of Quarterback. It is somewhat similar to last year where fans of the Edmonton Eskimos weren't sure who would be the starter, but whereas last year there was a lot of negativity surrounding the position, this year it is the exact opposite. Most fans are rather optimistic about the two young guys vying for the coveted role and the excitement is building. Let's take a closer look.

Eskimo President and CEO Len Rhodes has relieved Eric Tillman of his duties as general manager effectively immediately.

“I have spent considerable time looking at the future direction of this club and did not see Eric as a part of this team moving forward,” says Rhodes. “We will begin our search for a new general manager immediately and hope to have a successor in place by the end of the calendar year.”

Tillman joined the Eskimos in September 2010. Since then, the club has had back-to-back playoff appearances. In his 12 years as general manager with Edmonton, Saskatchewan, BC, Toronto and Ottawa, Tillman has four Grey Cup appearances with three wins.

As many long-timers here know, I am a nitpicker when it comes to in-game elements (gold lines on the field, inflatable igloo, ads, promos, etc.etc.etc.)...because they add a lot to the in-game experience when they are done well.

But I don't recall ever seeing a pre-game as poorly orchestrated as tonight's. Those who were watching on TV probably don't know, but here's what happened:

With about 11 mins on the clock, they started the CORE video (intro video as they've been using all year). It runs probably 2 or 3 minutes.

At the conclusion of the video, in theory, the boys are in the helmet and here they come as a group (minus the starters who are announced). But not tonight. A couple of guys come out of the room, but no more. A few seconds go by...then a few more...then the first of the fireworks go off. Only about two shots went off, and then they stopped.

We are 10 games into the 2012 season and the Esks have an okay 5-5 record. Clearly not what we want, but not Winnipeg bad either. I was going to do an article about how the crowded backfield cannot continue and there is really no room for Boyd on this team, but tonight's game has changed my mind. I still feel Boyd needs to be let go, but the offence as a whole is so terrible, that's what I am going to focus on here now.

I know the offence rallied a little late in the game, but at the end of the day, the one touchdown they scored (FG botch excluded) is not enough. Not in the Labour Day rematch on home turf. But you see this a lot in the CFL whenever a team is down by more than one possession. Calgary was playing loose, the offence took advantage. I will not overlook the first 55 minutes due to one or two drives.
