The Riders have had a good passing system the last few years. I wonder if it attributed to Ken Miller or LaPolice. I guess we will find out.
As for the Bombers, LaPolice is a rooke head coach, so only time will tell if this is a good move. IMO, they should have gone with Greg Marshall, someone with lots of CFL experience.
I'm thinking Marshall will end up in Toronto.

In fairness, either way, they're dealing with a rookie HC, and in both cases they're dealing with candidates that have had some connection with the Bombers in a coordinator position. Marshall strikes me as more 'ready', but I think that has as much to do with him being associated with so many HC competitions. It's worth noting that he's been unsuccessful in every one of those, and while I like what I know of the guy, there does come a point when you need to ask, "what does he have now that he didn't have the previous times when he wasn't deemed to be the right guy?".
Initially I was really shocked that LaPo would be the guy they chose, but at the same time, they've obviously been impressed by what they've seen and heard from him close up.
This has to hurt the Riders, not only with the timing... having to find a new OC at this time when you'd like to be focusing elsewhere... but also if the new OC brings in a new offensive system, which always takes some time to get used to, particularly for younger QBs.
Greg MArshall must be a terrible interview. This has to be the 3rd or 4th job that he has been passed over for.

It's official, LaPolice will be announced head coach tomorrow, as per TSN

Great move by the bombers..the mike kelly system really screwed them in 08,but with a new regime in place I could see them using that talent to good use...best defense in my opionion..special teams are top 4 in the league and the offense needs a qb...this team has all the tools to be special...but eh what do I know? I'm just a armchair qb...lol....and its still the wpg bombers the ass crack of the cfl....
every team, at one time or another, takes their turn in the doghouse of the league. Some just spend more time there than others.

Good point. The Riders need to focus on free agency, they have a lot of free agents, especially with both their DEs gone to the NFL. Also, they need to know their offensive system so they know who to bring in...or else their choice of OC could be restricted as someone who can work with their current talent. I see them most likely promoting from within to solve these needs. They don't have a whole lot of turnover on offense, so it won't hurt them too badly.
Am I the only one surprised that its taken both Toronto and Winnipeg so long??
Is there a time-line affecting all this that I'm forgetting?
I'd say nobody is surprised that it took so long.
Both teams had heaps to deal with above the level of coaching (i.e. management & ownership). Normally you have to get those things ironed out before you start hiring coaches. But in both cases the mgmnt/ownership situations were held up (for various reasons).
Both teams also realized the dire need to do something sooner not later and so both kept working at the coaching side of things while the other part of the problem was/is still being worked out.
It's not the first time a situation like this has happened - though in an 8 team league it hasn't happened to two teams simultaneously quite like this to my recollection.

You just know that someone, somewhere, is eventually going to go to a Riders' game with a sign that says "Fu*k LaPolice"

Coaching changes already in the 'Peg. Not really worth its own thread but Lapolice has fired ST/DB coach Rick Campbell and DC Mark Nelson. read all about it

Always thought Mark Nelson was a pretty decent coach

rumour on OurBombers.com is that Nelson significantly contributed to antagonizing Barrin Simpson. Can't find the exact thread now that I'm looking for it but it was being discussed there.
