At least there they killed a dragon. But I feel like the writers have fallen in love with their characters and/or the actors and the show has suffered because of it.
I think that's a fair statement. There doesn't seem to be any shock coming from any episode anymore. Hopefully they are building to something truly shocking, but alas, it's probably more along the lines of the predictable scenarios I mentioned in my last post edit.

    Agreed.

Yeah, imagine if the Night King kills Arya instead of the other way around. Imagine how crazy twitter would have been.

Agreed, left me much more intrigued as to how this will end.

But seriously Jon, not even a damn doggy treat or something!?

That was pretty clearly a CGI decision. Whenever the direwolves have interacted with humans, it has looked pretty terrible. For whatever reason, they can get the dragons to look as real as I've ever seen but can't make a direwolf interact with people.

This season is really feeling rushed, and that's a shame because it's been the best show for so long. They could have taken a full season the flesh out the battle against the Night King, and another season to give the battle for the Seven Kingdoms justice. I really wish Martin would have finished the books before they made the show, because there has been a noticeable drop since the source material was passed.

Other than the horrible 3rd episode, I've enjoyed this season quite a bit. It's flawed, sure, but it always had been. I think the complaints people have are overkill. It's still Game of Thrones.

    But I found this funny:

My biggest gripe about this episode was the quick end to the siblings from Saskatchewan. Really hoped Cersei would have died ugly for all the crap she’s done.

This season has been weak. The "Dany goes full Mad King" thing was predictable as hell. Cersei's death was underwhelming, considering how evil she's been. And I especially hate how they turned the best character in TV, Tirion Lannister, into a sobbering buffoon.

But at least it's not as ridiculous as last season was.

Thing is, you can't hate too much. Game of Thrones has always been about subverting fan expectations. Both Martin and the showrunners love giving fans the finger in that Rian Johnson "Last Jedi" way (Worst SW movie by the way).

I like GoT, but I've always felt it was over-rated anyway.

Thought the same at first, but thinking on it more dying in a pathetic way like a rat in a sewer is almost like the universe saying she's insignificant which is probably her most feared end. It may be more just. But truthfully, I really wanted to see Jamie kill her, foremost with Anya also being a good second option. But now she has a much bigger target. Ice and Fire... Anya will be the one to end both.

I half expected that when Jaime found Cersei in the last episode, that Jaime actually WAS Arya, who found him dead from his fight with Euron and decided to wear his face to get close to Cersei.

I expected Jaime to kill her because of the prophecy. But apparently, the show left that part of the prophecy out - which I missed upon first viewing. But I think Jaime's whole arc was really butchered over the 8 seasons. It's not Game of Thrones if they do the expected. Which probably means Jon won't end up on the Throne even though I still think that's where we are headed.

Perfect. Would have satisfied both options of seeing Jamie kill Cersei, but also giving Anya her revenge.

LOL! Maybe the comet from the books kills everyone at the end.

There's a chance it could be Arya as well. She kills people of many eye colors, green will be next but it turned out not to be Cersei's green.

Or if they really want to mess with us, they'll make Gendry king and everyone would lose their mind.

Gendry makes zero sense. It will be Jon or nobody.

I actually JUST started watching GoT a couple weeks ago ( am in season 3 atm) and I can see how Daenerys is changing into a mad queen. Already can't stand John Snow. I really hope Daenerys ends up on the throne.. enjoying her story line so far.

What if the throne was destroyed in all the dragon fire ? Maybe more of a committee government?

How about an anarcho-syndicalist commune? You know, take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting.

As long as some watery tart doesn't lob a scimitar at someone and make them king I'm happy...
