Honestly, other than during the last two Olympics when they somehow find magic and play amazing, they never look impressive. They sit back way too much and try to counter attack. They need to turn Fleming and Huitema loose and let them develop and attacking game.
Look. We can go round and round about this all the live long day. Let's keep it simple. I embody amazement. Can you dig on that? Good. Then meet me on the corner of rock and roll, and bring a flask of something that burns.

And Andreescu takes it over Serena to win the US Open!!

First Canadian ever to win a singles Grand Slam event! We're going to be hearing her name for a decade or more.

Spare a thought today for Mikayla Martin, an up and coming member of the Canadian ski cross team who died in a mountain biking accident yesterday in my home town. Only 22 years old.

We know the family a little, and Mikayla was very well known to all of us in Squamish since she was a kid. It's an incredible shock to us all.

Not sure that is a guarantee. I think Bobsleigh Canada was just ready to move on from that hot mess.

Canada vs USA in men’s soccer, a win would be huge for Canada’s chances of qualifying for the Hex.

And every cable provider has picked up the game from onesoccer except for Shaw, which is my provider.

    Re: Canadian Sport/Athletes

    HUGE tennis news.

Canada will play in the Davis Cup World Group semi-finals after defeating Australia in 3 rubbers (matches). Canada won 2 singles & the doubles. Opponent will be determined today or tmrw in the Serbia vs Russia tie.

What makes this even more impressive is that they played all 3 matches with only 2 players: Vasek Posposil & Dennis Shapovalov as Milos & Felix are out with injuries. Yes, we have other players - & they have played in Davis Cup before - but World Group is like playing in the 2nd week of a Grand Slam. The top seeds from each country usually participate - for example, Djokovic is playing for Serbia this morning. Luckily Vasek & Shapo stayed healthy.

Just a heads up it's Vanier Cup time again. Calgary Dinos vs Montreal Carabins tomorrow . Game will be carried on CBC likely around noon eastern time. Carabins led by everyone's favorite ex Eskimo head coach plus Anthony Calvillo is asst/ head coach and QB coach.

Kinda funny that with the CFL coaching limit set at 11, Montreal has 13 coaches listed while Calgary has 24. Of course CIS coaches salary certainly not comparable to the CFL. Plus you'd have to imagine lots of volunteer coaches on the teams.

Another Canadian gets into F1. Too bad they both drive for non-competitive teams.

With the change in the Davis Cup format, I don’t really understand the difference between Davis Cup & ATP Cup, but that aside, Canada defeated Greece 3-0 last night. Felix & Shapo both played really well in singles (Shapo defeated Tsitsipas!) & they were solid in doubles. They are so fun to watch - and so good!

Australia is next up on Sat (Fri evening here).

    Re: Canadian Sport/Athletes

Canada has made it into the Final Eight at the ATP Cup as 8th seed (2nd best of the 2nd place finishers in the 6 groups).

They play Serbia on Friday. Felix vs someone (?Lajovic), then Shapo vs Djokovic. Doubles not yet announced. That 2nd singles match should be really good. Shapovalov has been great in singles & doubles in the group stage, except when he completely lost his composure & imploded vs deMinaur when they played the Aussies.

Canadian soccer heroine Christine Sinclair has just scored two goals in the Olympic qualifier vs St Kitts. This gives her 185 career goals, making her the highest-scoring woman of all time!
