Glad he's off the radio. Couldn't stand that guy.
Tencer was on the morning show with Lt. Eric when Nielson was away last week. He's been working as an occasional fill-in (on every 1260 show except Gregor's) for as long as he's been scouting for the Blades.

Ohhhh. Had no idea. I stopped listening to sports radio a year or so ago.

I still can't stand Tencer. Came across as cocky to me.

Fun show tonight on Dean Millard's Sports Talk. First, it was Millard's immediate predecessor Jason Strudwick talking about his current area of expertise: kids hockey development. Right after that, the most legendary 1260 nine-midnight host of all John Short called in to talk with Deano. John has recently joined Twitter and, if you haven't already, I recommend giving him a follow.

Last week's sudden dismissal by Bell Media of Dean Millard is troubling on a couple of levels. Millard worked hard to successfully keep up the positive momentum Jason Strudwick had generated as TSN 1260's 9 pm-midnight host and did a fine job on the Oilers' pre & post-game shows as well. Dean's a really good guy who hopefully lands on his feet. The cancellation of Sports Night in favour of ESPN Radio is a textbook example of cost-cutting at the expense of local content.

First I heard this. Dean is a very nice guy, who has had to battle a lot of personal issues. Hope he finds himself somewhere else soon.

Here's the first episode of Deano's new podcast. Well worth a listen not just for his fans but anyone who is entertained by professionally made talk radio.

Dustin Nielsen tweeted out that he’s calling 9 CFL games this year, starting with preseason this weekend.

Good to see him get the call for TSN. He calls a great game and did an awesome job for CIS.

Let's hope they pair him up with Rod "the Voice of the CFL" Black he'll learn just by being in the presence of the Black Panther himself.

That's like James Franklin learning from Kerry Joseph...

    Re: Edmonton Sports Radio Thread

This morning on TSN 1260, Dan Tencer was subbing in & was talking about how he didn’t understand why there was such an uproar related to the penalty given to the Golden State dude that pushed Kyle Lowry [$500K + not allowed to attend remaining home games this season].

    1. 500k compared to this guy’s bet worth [2.7B] is like a $2 tax on 10k.

    2. GS has 1 home game today, and possibly 1 next week if a Game 6 is required. C’mon.

    3. This dude is a GS owner. There’s a code if conduct. You don’t put hands on a player in any context...oh wait...

    4. If Kyle Lowry had touched a fan, you can be sure there would have been a much steeper penalty [refer to Ron Artest]

    5. The social & racial overtones & undertones are ginormous. Get woke. Read this article that explains it all. http://www.truehoop.com/p/privilege-aint-welcome-here

    Fact check:
The Golden State penalty was the remainder of this season. The NBA banned him from GS home games & team events for 1 year. Way better

Not sure where else to put this, but checked in on Morley Scott's new podcast yesterday.

    https://omny.fm/shows/the-e-pod/behi...cfl-free-agenc

Interesting take with kind of exploring free agency through the eyes of Kenny Stafford, somewhat in real time. There were interviews leading up to the date, when he was still negotiating, again as things drew close, and then afterwards when he had signed. A reminder that when Kenny hit free agency after the 2015 Grey Cup, he was one of the more sought after guys in the league, and certainly at his position.

I know that guys take huge risks being 100% real with what's going on, and that no matter what they say, they've likely got someone that they'll be upsetting by it, but it's pretty real when he talks about signing in Winnipeg in 2017, getting unexpectedly cut their, and calling Edmonton (where he wanted to be all along) and saying that he'd spend the season on the PR if he needed to. I've had a lot of admiration for Kenny growing up (on and off the field) and gaining clarity as to what he wants in his life and being persistent about going out and chasing it.

Worth a listen, and with a little shorter format, it works for a 20 minute drive.
