Fair enough, everyone’s got different tastes so you won’t appease everybody. But any of the names on that list would do at least as good a job as Imagine Dragons or Fall Out Boy did.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Arcade Fire would be quite the grab with their international status as would Drake (though I despise his music), but most of the other ones you mention wouldn't gather much acclaim. Yes, they'd put on a decent show, but many wouldn't even know who they are.

I know who City and Colour are...and that's about it off the top of your head. I know who Drake is...but can't say I know any of his music. Dallas Green is good and all but his style of music isn't exactly...ummm...get up and cheer kind of stuff. Might as well have Grapes of Wrath or Skydiggers!
    Overheard at Spirit of Edmonton.
Boydo - Jeez Sean I always forget how tall you are...
Wad - That’s ok Boydo, we remember how short you are! (As Swerve chuckles and nods while drinking his Coors)

I wouldn't mind having the Arkells but that's me.

Do you have Spotify? They have a “This is....Drake” playlist.

Apple Music has a “Drake Essentials” playlist.

(Or maybe the other way around)

I would love Drake at the Grey Cup but he finishes his tour in mid-November (in Edmonton Nov 5 & 6, don’t forget to get your tickets!) so I think he would only do it for a super high price & therefore may be cost-prohibitive.

I despise Drake. Only Taylor Swift is higher on my hate list. Having said that, Drake is probably one of the top music artists out there right now. Waaaaay out of the budget for the Grey Cup.

I thought I heard the Arkells were performing a pregame concert or something to make up for one of the Thursday night concert series that was rained out. Don't know anything about their music but I think they are the ones who do the TSN football intro song???

Not the Arkells, but one letter out from being an anagram of the Arkells, the Reklaws. Boring.

I stand corrected. Arkells, Reklaws...all the same to me. Don't know either band.

That’s why I mention Alexisonfire because that’d be the most suitable of all Dallas Greens projects for a football game, and they recently got back together to tour earlier this year.

It sure looks like Alessia Cara will be the Grey Cup halftime act

So the official announcement for the Grey Cup halftime act is supposed to take place today at halftime of the Eskimos game with the Bombers but the news may have already leaked out.

Several Twitter accounts supporting Canadian singer Alessia Cara are saying she’ll be performing on Nov. 25 at Commonwealth.

Ti-Cats announce plans for Grey Cup Festivites.

With the 106th Grey Cup quickly approaching, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced plans this afternoon for a series of fan parties in Edmonton’s city centre on Grey Cup weekend, from Friday, November 23 to Saturday, November 24.

Back by popular demand for a second consecutive year, the fan-favourite pub crawl format will lead Tiger-Cats fans and CFL fans alike on a social tour across the host city’s downtown core, stopping at popular establishments along the way, with prizes, appearances from Ticats players and alumni, drink specials, and much more.

The free admission Black & Gold Pub Crawl, presented by Coors Light, puts a Ticats twist on the well known ‘pub crawl’ theme, with official team party stops at Mercer Tavern, Central Social Hall and The Canadian Brewhouse

Didn't know who she was, so looked her up on Wiki and listened to a couple of her songs posted on You Tube.
New artist, Canadian, catchy hit songs.
    Excellent choice.

    Re: Grey Cup 2018!

Does anyone know why the majority of banners they put up on streets (lamp posts etc) seem to be backwards? It's not for traffic coming from the other direction - I've noticed this on Gateway Blvd, top of 109th leading down to the Walterdale bridge, and a couple of other areas where there is no traffic coming from the opposite direction, so basically nobody can read them. Are they waiting for Grey Cup week to turn them around? Would it really be that big of a deal to have them facing the right direction from the beginning since they are already up, rather than sending a crew again to turn them around in a few weeks?

Heads up for anyone interested, on Grey Cup Saturday (Nov 24th), my podcast partner on The Brad And Avry Hour, Brad Bartko and myself are throwing a party inside of Match Pub and Eatery at Grand Villa Casino downtown.

Going from 9PM to 1AM, we'll have TSN personalities, CFL alumni and a few surprises at it
Check out my stuff on Avrysports.com

Arcade Fire and the Arkells are very decent bands in my opinion.

Edm media should do nothing but ask DD about his "****ing Canadians" comment.

I'll be surprised if he's asked once.
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.
