This will help the Riders big time, as I believe all Zach needed was a change of scenery and a better Oline

Re: Around the CFL - 2018

With Bridge on a new contract after he has started some games and now Collaros you have to think the Riders will have significantly less cap space to work with than last year. They could be losing lots of FAs.

Collaros looks done to me after all of his injuries, similar to Durant whom the Riders were happy to rid themselves of last season. He has lost his last 12 games as a starter and is only one win away from the all time CFL record. I think losing your starting job to freakin Jeremiah Masoli is a major red flag.

I would be much more worried about the riders if Franklin ended up there and this move today pretty much removes that possibility completely (in the event he does not sign in Toronto).

I would think that Collaros contract gets reworked. 500k for a guy who has been struggling is a lot of money.

I think Zach may surprise a lot of people with a resurgence. I don't think any QB can look good behind a swiss cheese O-Line in an offense that passes the ball 95% of the time. I bet that you put Zach behind a decent O-Line with a balanced offense that includes a running threat and he looks a lot more like the old Zach than the Zach we have seen lately.
    Is it game day yet?????

Good that Sherman has staff now with CFL experience. His first quotes regarding the CFL seem to leave the impression that he thought things were going to be easy here. Hopefully they can produce a contending team and get some more butts in the seats in Mtl.

We are sending Chia over to rework the contract. He'll probably get a raise.

God we better not sign Glenn..

If we do, who’s making the pool for what week we lose Reilly 4 the season for?

With no sign of Ricky retiring yet, I don't know how much sense this makes for JF. What's the difference backing up here or there?

After seeing what the Ticats got for Collaros our return from Franklin does not look that great imo.

Biggest difference is that Collaros had term left on his contract and wasn't heading to free agency. If we had chosen to trade Franklin last summer, we would have gotten more than we did.

Ricky is much closer to the end of his career than Reilly. Ricky also has a more significant injury history, and is more than likely one injury away from calling it quits.

Ricky must surely be retiring... argos are gonna need money for the deal and my guess is with Ricky stepping away that frees up 450k plus a year

Theres no way Franklin signed a 2 year deal without Ray giving a strong indication he is retiring. I bet we hear an announcement in the next few days.

I think we need a vet backup QB, especially in a grey cup hosting year. If we lost Reilly for the year (knock on wood), it would be a huge risk to finish the season with Kline, Jenkins and O'Brien. If you can snag Glenn for a low price, I don't see why not (unless you think someone like Willy is a better vet backup option).

Also, wtf is Kavis doing? Every other team is getting settled with their starters for next season and Kavis is sitting around with a severely overpaid Durant who looks more like a backup than anything at thia stage of his career.

With Durant being owed a big bonus in a few weeks, he might be released and gone soon too. New landing spot for Glenn, again.

Yeah but.....Collaros's term is for big dollars. As expected Franklin signed.

Collaros also has a larger sampling size than Franklin so in theory his return should be better.

The Rumor with Sherman is that he helps bring in Kapaernick

At first blush, yes, but there's something to be said for Woods being already under contract in the CFL rather than a risk in the draft. There's also the point mentioned in previous replies about Franklin being a free agent at the time.

Yeah, I believe Durant is owed a huge bonus Feb 1st. He'll be released this month.
