Before I was an Esks fan, I was a Trappers fan. Went for Toonie Tuesday games whenever they were scheduled. Also got to race Homer around the bases once...still have the signed ball, mini bat, and Trappers pennant kicking around. The pennant was up on my bedroom wall for years.

I have some, but only because I worked for them and got hilariously fired by them 2 or 3 times.

I'm a Tribe fan so I'm biased but I'm predicting that this year's World Series will be won by the team that prevails in the Indians/Astros ALDS.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Baseball has the most idiotic playoffs of any sport. 35 ex games , 162 reg season games and 1 game and then 5 game playoffs, just moronic.

Blue Jays have released Tulo. The 34 year old shortstop is owed $34 million over the next two years plus a $4 million buyout for 2021. Jays on the hook for the full amount.

Just in case someone missed the news, Roy Halladay has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Only 56 of 329 players have made it on first ballot. Very tragic that it had to be posthumously .

Two Cy Young awards, a no hitter in the World series & a perfect game. In his second big league start he went 8 2/3 innings before giving up a hit. When I didn't have time to watch the Jays game when he was pitching , I'd record it for later. One of the best ever.

Very lucky to see him pitch live a few times. Guy was amazing to watch play. RIP, Doc, you are a hall of famer.

Doc has to be the only former Medicine Hat Blue Jay ever elected to Cooperstown, though I hear his family has requested no logo on his plaque. Still an amazing player and worthy of the honor.

MLB has partnered with The Atlantic League starting April 28th in a three year deal with having a computer calling balls and strikes. Plate umpires will wear earpieces and be informed of ball/strike calls by a TrackMan computer system that uses Doppler radar. Umps have the authority to over ride the computer which considers it a strike if a ball bounces in front of home plate and then enters the strike zone.

Additionally : the distance between home and first will be shortened by 3 inches
the distance between the mound and home plate will be lengthened by 2 ft. starting July 12 th
infield defensive shifts will be limited
bases will be 18 inch squares up from the present 15 in.

infielders will be prohibited from setting up on outfield grass
each pitcher must face at least 3 batters or complete the half inning unless injured
between inning breaks cut from 2 min. 5 secs. to 1:45
mound visits are banned except for pitching changes or medical issues

For sure. MLB is behind it. With a lot of pitchers throwing in the mid 90's the extra two ft. distance gives the hitters a bit more of a look . Like hockey the fans want more scoring. Can't wait to see some manager kicking dust into the computer .

This is super interesting. A lot of these ideas seem pretty great.

Awesome changes, especially about mound visits and inning breaks. The games have gotten so long that the only people who watch them in their entirety are the actual paying fans.
