Finally it is fun to watch the Oilers, I watch entire games, and I look forward to the next game.

I'm watching more as well. Funny how you watch an entertainment product more if it is actually entertaining.

More quality pro scouting by the elite oilier front office. strome, zero points this year. Just brutal.

Pretty useless. On the other hand, for $650k, Chaisson is a real bargain, for once.

How about Lucic? 4 points in 14 games and -10. All for the low, low price of $6M a year for this year and another 4 more!

Jesse PoolParty isn't ready for the NHL yet. Why is he here? 1 point in 10 games. It's too fast for him right now.

For all the talk of Talbot's resurgence, he's actually .899. Not great. The Oilers outshot the Caps last night by a wide margin and are getting 30 shots a night on a regular basis. The difference last night was that the Caps goalie played well.

I love that the Oilers are in it this year. But their depth and goaltending are a real concern. I don't think that they can continue to hang around without scoring from their 2nd and 3rd lines.

By the way, in case nobody noticed, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is a hell of a two-way hockey player.

Project that over the next 4.8 years of his contract and, quick math, he's on pace for another 13 or 14 goals before the end of the 2023 season. Better up that PP1 time.

Yamamoto & Puljujarvi finally sent down to Bakersfield. Hopefully they both get a lot of ice time and light it up down there.

    No, it's not.

They have no depth and a millstone around their necks called Lucic, who has 30 PIM, is -7 and has only 5 points in 17 games. All he dies is ensure the PK units get loads of ice time.

    But it's not just Lucic.

    Talbot is .895
    1 point for Strome
5 points, 22 PIM and -6 for Darnell Nurse in 17 games.
2 goals total from the blue line in 17 games.

Dreadful. You can't win on a regular basis with that.

Oilers must of read my post, I am back to watching partial games again.

Zero talent and Talbot is washed up, he was a one year wonder. Another first shot of the game goal, he must hold the NHL record for being scored on with the first shot in a game. And the third goal was awful, what was he doing lying down in that position, the goal scorer was behind the net!

Hire Quenneville. What's taking them so long?

2 of Chia’s top three RWs going into the year are in the AHL. People rag on TM about moving Draisaitl there but frankly I don’t blame him. Rattie has some skill but McDavid just has chemistry with Drai that isn’t there with Rattie and even Nuge.

But the numbers at 5v5 don't bear that out.

You have to think that Nicholson is now as guilty as Chiarelli. Every day that Chiarelli keeps his job, Bob Nicholson is negligent in his.

this team is a joke. What could have been to what it is. I feel sorry for McDavid. There is no way Chia should have his job still. Whomever has the ability to fire him is asleep at the wheel.

Check that, apparently New York is eating the difference in salary, so we're getting Spooner for Strome's cap hit. Don't mind it as much now. Not sure why the Rangers are willing to absorb a $4M cap hit just to get Strome, though.

Because Spooner's been their worst forward by a mile. His advanced stats are off the chart horrible.

Spooner is statistically one of the most detrimental players to a team’s shot and scoring chance numbers, and has been since breaking into the league on a full-time basis. Out of 300+ skaters that took the ice for 1500+ over the last three seasons, Spooner’s relative expected goals rating was the second worst among players who haven’t washed out of the league since then.

Lol. That's pretty scathing. Interesting how we can find different takes using different analytics. On twitter I saw this:

Likely comes down to Spooner having more offensive potential vs. Strome being a more safe player that does nothing overly well.

As hockey isn't played in a vacuum, it can sometimes be difficult to judge a player accurately as you have to take line mates into account. (King of like saying Drai is worth $8.5 million because he can score lots of points when he's on McDavid's line). Spooner had benefited from playing with his line mates for the past few years. Now that the Rangers have gone full rebuild, he doesn't have good line mates, and his own offense has dried up as a result. His other deficiencies are therefore becoming more glaring.

Chiarelli just traded Ryan Strome for a poor mans Jordan Eberle.... who is left handed.

It's 11:14 AM on November 19 and Todd should have been fired in April. Rip the ****ing bandaid off already.
