Instead of enjoying the fallout from what you say, I'd just rather they win. I'm just not sure they will. The signs of last year's team is still there, but Talbot's playing awesome, and Rattie is red hot. I'm somewhat confident one of those continues, but will both?

Agreed. I'm happy the Right Wingers have shown up. Let's hope it continues.

I would happily be wrong, but I think the Oilers are going to be a bottom 5 team this year. Chiarelli will then get fired. The new GM will have to trade away some contracts to make space. I actually believe that Leon Draisaitl will get traded. His contract is too big fora guy who can't drive his own line, but other GMs will want him. That's the smart way out. Hell Ty Rattie can get points with 97. Iys without 97 that Draisaitl looks like the player he's really worth.

    He'll get traded.

I'm going to hold my reservations until November. That's usually when the wheels have completely fallen off.

Talbot has played 5 periods. I'd say the jury is way out on this one. He got a shutout in the first game last year.

Touché. But in said time he looks a lot steadier and not over playing the puck like he did so much last season.

I will be excited so see the Lucic haters when he notched his 20+ goals and 50 points this season...

Koskanen so far is a preseason disaster. 2.5 million and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in Bakersfield.

Though I haven't been impressed, he has at least gotten better each game so here's hoping that was mostly him adjusting to the ice and style of hockey. Still don't believe that $2.5 for him was the best option, but I'm not ready to write him off quite yet.

Ya, just saw that Montoya got put on waivers. Been really disappointed in Koskanen so far. Let in bad goals, and it would sure be nice to have confidence in a backup. Especially for 2.5 million!!! I’d love to let in bad goals for 1/4 of that!

Another chia gem montoya. Lets just hand out a draft pick for jag goalie that was no better than any number of waiver fodders.

Torn up as to what I want to have happen. It'd be great to get back to the playoffs, but if we miss out again, it (should practically) guarantee(s) that Chia and co. are gonzo.

I can never cheer for them to lose. If Chia somehow navigates out of this hell he put them in while turning them into a contender, I'd be glad to change my tune on him. I just don't think it's likely that he can pull it off.

He did finally get a market rate deal on Nurse, so here's hoping that the restrictive cap amount is such that he actually starts negotiating a bit better.

^That's a big "if" and a bigger "somehow"...and that's coming from someone who was a Chia defender until the middle of last season.

They could win the Cup this year and I would still think he's horrible and has no place being a GM in the NHL.

Yeah well, I'm not expecting him to make me change his tune, particularly hearing the latest being that not only did he give $2.5M to a veteran of 4 NHL games, he threw in a NMC as a kicker. A person couldn't write this stuff.

Chia pet said on Gregor this afternoon that Koskinen has a NMC. That’s right. What a ****ing joke. His job was never in jeopardy.

I know I've beat this drum before, but Pickard is on waivers. He's got a .913 career save percentage and most of that was behind a ****ty Colorado team. He makes 800K. He'd be a better option than Koskinen at way less the price.

How the Oilers got a 6th rounder for Jerabek who was awful is a mystery to me. Maybe the time difference allowed Chia to catch Armstong when he was borderline Blackout drunk.

Maybe Armstrong felt bad for the idiot who paid $2.5M for an overrated KHL backup with a NMC.

Maybe Armstrong had a big poker debt he owed to Chia from a previous GM's meeting and Chia agreed to waive it.
