    News Marc Trestman fired

Such a good coach, and a good man. Really sad that it happened this way.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

The fact that he finished out the season, with the difficult personal last few months he’s had, is extremely amicable.

I don’t see him coaching in the CFL again.

Looks like Jonathan Himebauch will be looking for work again. Always thought he was one of the better Oline coaches in the CFL. Seems to have happy feet though, doesn't stay in one spot very long.

    Trestman fired!
Argos sucked this year, but last year he led them to a GC win.
All those great years with Montresl too.

Hmmmm. He might look darn good in Green and Gold.

    Re: Marc Trestman fired

I have the utmost respect for Trestman, both as a man and a football coach. What he has persevered through to see the job through this season is amazing, and I think this move is almost as much of a Mercy than anything. Let him go and focus on other things immediately (coaching contracts are guaranteed financially). It's not unlike putting down a beloved pet rather than having it suffer for a few months when the inevitable is coming.

As much as I respect Trestman, Toronto is a market that proves that winning truly isn't everything. Trestman is a guy that wants conformity, team first, 100% football-focused players. He works to make them better men by all accounts, and has left major impacts on many as a result, but he's all steak and no sizzle in a market, and at a time, where sizzle is needed.

I wish him nothing but the best, both away from the field and in his professional endeavors, but if he is to coach again in the CFL, it will have to be with a very specific fit, with owners and a GM that are fully aligned. Hard to think of a more aligned GM mentality than Hervey, but Vancouver is another place where winning isn't enough on its own, nor is the timing likely to be right with the off-field elements needing attention.
