Believe , also that ex Esk. Terrance Bullitt ( LB) is with Arizona and (K ) Sergio Castillo is with San Antonio along with ex Bomber coach, Mike Riley. Mark Chapman, overall first pick in last years CFL draft still with Salt Lake.

I recognize surprisingly few of these names. But it's entirely possible my brain is floating in space right now

Yeah, but there's an "Express" team, which is the name of the USFL team that Hugh Campbell coached.

The AAF is destined to die. The NFL is the game in the USA.

I hope the CFL doesn't go down with it.

Not ready to start an XFL thread yet (perhaps next year), so I'll just post this here. XFL announced their eight franchises today. Interesting choices.

Here's a rundown of which cities will be hosting games when the XFL kicks off again:

    City: Dallas
Stadium: Globe Life Park in Arlington (Arlington, Texas)

    City: Houston
    Stadium: TDECU Stadium (Houston, Texas)

    City: Los Angeles
    Stadium: StubHub Center (Carson, California)

    City: New York
Stadium: MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey)

    City: Seattle
    Stadium: CenturyLink Field (Seattle, Washington)

    City: St. Louis
Stadium: The Dome at America's Center (St. Louis, Missouri)

    City: Tampa
Stadium: Raymond James Stadium (Tampa, Florida)

    City: Washington, D.C.
    Stadium: Audi Field (Washington, D.C.)

Oline coach, Jonathan Himebauch , has joined head coach Mike Riley with San Antonio of the AAF. Certainly doesn't stay in one place very long for a very highly regarded coach. Left the Eskimos to join the Argos where he had the asst. head coach title added to his Oline duties in 2015. Rejoined Toronto last year.

The nomadic life of a positional coach in football.

Similar to the salary breakdown in the CFL for players, where you have some QBs taking up 10% of the team's cap, other top-tier veterans, another 5%, and then many guys working at, or near, league minimum, there is a big differential between HC's, Coordinators and positional coaches, and far less stability for positional coaches who are often dealing with 1 year contracts - albeit, at least guaranteed, unlike the players.

Michael Vick has also quit as OC for the Atlanta franchise... trouble brewing for the new league before the first kickoff?

Rumours that Childress may be hired as a positional coach by the Packers may have been the reason he walked away (also hearing Cleveland as a possibility). If I hear more, I'll post it.

    TV Broadcast Schedule for AAF
Might be a little tough to read - best image I could find right now.

Re: Alliance of American Football 2019 Thread

Just checked the Arizona roster, as was hoping to see that former Esk, Terrance Bullitt had cracked the roster... but unfortunately, it seems he did not. They did have ex-Esk, Rykeem Yates listed as having made it.

I have to admit, I'm interested in this league as more than just a curiosity. I know that there are a few CFL guys that are impending free agents that are weighing whether the CFL or the AAF is a better fit for them, particularly with a goal of getting to the NFL. Part of that is short-term vs longer-term outlook, as there is some cash right now if an AAF team still has interest in them come Feb 12 (the season will have started, but football always has changeover), whereas the CFL can't pay out any bonus money yet. AAF might also allow a guy to work toward an NFL camp in the fall, whereas CFL would have them working for a futures contract for 2020 by this time next year. CFL likely gives them a more established credible path to get the film needed to earn a look in the NFL.

Pregame starting now on CBS. Hopefully they take some time prior to kickoff to review the rules in comparison to NFL/NCAA rules. Lots of changes I wasn't expecting including limited blitzing.

Thanks for the heads up. Didn't know it started tonight. Looked on TV programing and it's on two of the American stations. Gonna have a look.

I really liked that they had a mic on the replay review to explain what they saw in overturning a call.

I haven't gone to download the app - I think that aspect would add interest for a certain demographic.

It's not bad football so far for what is essentially a pre-season game. Good production value and broadcast.

Re: Alliance of American Football 2019 Thread

Looks like the defenses have an edge up so far, picking up on the offenses' simplified calls. Not bad, but not sure it's enough of interest to follow regularly.

Nice to see Mike Riley on the sidelines again though! (No, not that Mike Reilly.)

That was a certainly a new wrinkle on the replay review. The way it should be, very clinical, no holding up the game, such as putting in an extra commercial like the CFL. The CFL is so slow on replays that you'd think they have to call the replay officials back from the rum hut first.

Great interview with Bill Polian before the game. Has to have a real love for the game to take on a project like this at his age. Also like how they can bring in the sounds of the game and players and coaches talking at times without stapling a mic on someone like here. Quite enjoyable game so far.

I hadn't realized Polian's CFL ties prior to the interview with Mike Riley leading up to the game. Had a stint as a scout with the Al's and Player Personnel Director with the Bombers early in his career.

I know that the AAF has the blessing of the NFL, but for a league to not even have the scores of the games on their own website? I dunno, mates.

It already looks better on TV than what TSN does for the CFL.
I hit them as hard as I could on the mouth right from the start of the game so they were thinking this was going to be a long day. Sooner or later one of us had to quit. And it wasn't going to be me.

See thats the interesting thing, I wonder how their TV ratings were. If they were good I could see the networks continuing to back them but if they weren't this could be a short experiment
