The free agent list is ginormous.

I’m too lazy to type it out...but if someone else wants to type it up & make it a pinned post, I will keep it updated with pretty colours & everything....

The Ottawa Redblacks have suspended Greg Ellingson from team activities after the American receiver was charged with failing to provide a breath sample at a roadside screening on Friday morning.
The team issued a statement on Saturday morning.

(2/2) Look for Orlondo Steinauer to be @Ticats head coach in 2020 or possibly 2019. The 2019 scenario would involve June Jones stepping down as head coach or stepping sideways to become Hamilton’s offensive co-ordinator. #CFL #Ticats

....and sorry if I confused everyone. I thought the other offseason thread was specific to the Eskimos & there’s usually an “all CFL” one....
Past five years of #CFL Free Agency, based on my questionable counting skills:
— Craigolas (@craigolas) November 30, 2018
2015: 136 FAs (Avg 15/team)
2016: 203 FAs (Avg 23/team)
2017: 226 FAs (Avg 25/team)
2018: 219 FAs (Avg 24/team)
2019: 325 FAs (Avg 36/team) !!! https://t.co/Z6QxfqTu0c
Obviously we will see some signings by all clubs before February to reduce the numbers, but the jump in free agents is significant.

With all the interest in O.S. now with the head coaching openings I imagine the Tabbies had to finally make it official. He left a good job at Fresno St. to come back last year so he likely was promised the Hamilton HC job eventually, plus also rumors his family like it in S. Ontario.
Noticing Austin is still on the books for Hamilton and if there will be some creative bookkeeping to circumvent the cap on CFL mgt. Some teams could be adding assistants to the President and chief Executive officers titles if they have deep enough pockets.
He played like he was drunk at the Grey Cup.
Second play of the game was a perfect pass to his hands which he uncharacteristically drops. I had a bad feeling then and there. Clearly Ottawa didn't have their mojo going, and you weren't going to beat Calgary with a mediocre effort. That drop really shattered the aura Ottawa had from the previous week where Harris passed at over 90% and moved the ball at will. Ellingston went on to drop more passes that game or have Harris over/under throw him a couple times.
Hearing Winnipeg OC Paul LaPolice has withdrawn from the head coach search in Toronto. Apparently, didn’t feel it was right fit given need to retain multiple members of existing staff. #CFL #Argos #Bombers

Much deserved if that's the case. And bonus if it makes Calgary weaker in any way

CFL and NFL related, but thought I'd post it here...
Brandon Browner was just sentenced to 8 years in state prison after pleading no contest to attempted murder ... TMZ Sports has learned.
The former Seattle Seahawks star -- an original member of the famed Legion of Boom defense -- was accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment in La Verne, CA on July 8 and allegedly chased her, dragged her and then smothered her in a carpet.
Her two children were present when the alleged abuse occurred.
Browner was also accused of stealing the woman's Rolex watch. He fled the residence but was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and faced life in prison.
On Tuesday, the 34-year-old appeared in court where he pled no contest to 1 count of attempted murder and 2 counts of willful child endangerment. In exchange, the remaining charges (robbery, burglary and false imprisonment) were dropped.
Browner was immediately remanded into custody during the hearing and is back behind bars.
Browner got credit for 300 days for good behavior during the time he's spent behind bars so far. He's been in custody since the arrest back in July.
Browner is a former Pro Bowl cornerback. He won one Super Bowl with the Seahawks and one with the Patriots.

But he's an Eskimo... If they don't care about the head shots they sure as f*ck aren't going to say he's the All Star for the League let alone the West. He won the west and overall QB spot last season, and the western spot in 2014, otherwise it seems to be the Bobo show since 2015. Mike has been named Western All Star twice and League All once since 2014. Bobo has 3 times in the West with 2 times being League All Star.
Since 2008 (figured 10 years back is an ok sample) it's been...
Bobo - 3x West 2x League
Mike - 2x West 1x League
Durant - 2x West
Lulay - 2x West 1x League
Burris - 2x West 2x League (Once with Stumps. Once with Redblacks)
Ray's been League All Star twice and Calvillo 3x.
Well, gentlemen, by all means, I think we ought to have an introspective moment of silence for poor old Tin-Tin.
I hit them as hard as I could on the mouth right from the start of the game so they were thinking this was going to be a long day. Sooner or later one of us had to quit. And it wasn't going to be me.
- Dan Kepley
It's an interesting set of circumstances, and I applaud LaPo's instincts in recognizing that they aren't a fit for him. Guys only have so many chances to make that jump to HC, and if you burn them in the wrong places/situations, it's going to colour you for future consideration.
Chamblin would seem to be a more logical fit in terms of some familiarity with the inherited staff. I think he's credible enough for the football side, and marketable from the business side of things, and he represents a tie to the 2017 GC success and brings some HC success in his resume. With him, it's a question of how bad does he want it, as it would mean foregoing some other business ventures he has ongoing in the US.
Ed Hervey confirms he has not completed the interview process yet, and hasn't offered the head coaching job to anyone at this point.

The Rash strikes again!![]()
'The Rash' is just living up to his reputation of being a shoddy reporter... :P
To me it was never about what I accomplished on the football field, it was about the way I played the game.
