    Gotta keep Mike happy

Let's be real.. Mikes still gonna be Mike.... He's a talented qb.... But I trust in Jason and his system and I'm gonna go on record and say Harris has more yards than Reilly in 2019
I know you're not and I agree, I think he'll be fine, but like you say, I have more faith in Maas than I would Jarious at this point.

And I would not be surprised to see your prediction come to fruition seeing as Maas has produced the leagues leading passer every single year since he started running Offences, and strictly from the standpoint of a pure passer, I think Harris is as good as anyone in the league, it's some of the intangibles that elevate Mike to the next level. But who's to say Trevor can't get there too?

I'm really excited about this staff, I think Lolly alone makes us infinitely better than what we were not to mention the return of some of the great Eskimos in club history in Gass and Tucker.

Those guys are gonna play a huge role in re-instilling the Eskimo culture into a locker room that is gonna need to come together and see a new generation of leaders rise up.

Actually if you compare Mike and Trevors stats from last year, you would have to say its entirely possible.

    • Mike Reilly = 18 games played, 418 completions on 621 attempts (67.3%) for 5562 yards, 30 TDs against 18 INTS. QB efficiency of 99.5
    • Trevor Harris = 17 games played, 431 completions on 615 attempts (70.1%) for 5116 yards, 22 TDs against 11 INTS. QB efficiency of 99.6

Now put Reilly in a new offence with new everything while dropping Harris in a similar offence and I could see your prediction coming true.

I hate to sound like such a homer but when you look at those numbers, and what Maas has proven over the last four seasons, it's hard not to think that that's a possibility, assuming health of course.

Its part of being a fan of a team, at least in my opinion. I know I tend to slant towards the positive but that's my character with most things.

What I take out of those stats is that Reilly goes deep more often that Harris, will be interesting to see if that's a Maas thing or was part of Reillys make up. Guess we'll find out in 2019

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that it would make anyone less of a father. You're absolutely right, millions of parents are in the workforce to provide for their families. We all do what we have to do.

I guess I'm not talking about the actual first word or first step, but more so, not being apart for them for a month at a time at this stage - specifically, when there is an opportunity to have his career AND more time around family.

I don't expect Mike's time invested into football will be any less, but I would expect that he'll spend his off-days differently, and there might be more watching of film at home than at the facility, but that could certainly be with teammates or coaches still too.

I still fully expect the Lions to announce Lulay coming back in a week or so. While they may be looking to groom Lloyd as the future QB, to set Reilly up for success with essentially building out an offence, you'd want to pair him with another set of eyes that he's comfortable with and that would benefit him. It would be just a one year transition before Travis likely pursues something in the media.

You log onto the Eskimos site, frick there isn’t even a mention of the Harris singing lol, like what the heck are thy trying to hide it, is he not marketable are they embarrassed of the signing.

Probably has to do with the fact that BC and Reilly agreed to terms last week but obviously weren't allowed to announce it before FA Day. Reilly has been in Vancouver area since then. The Lions have had more time to do photoshoots and plan website graphics, etc.

Harris wasn't guaranteed until FA Day. He's not even in the city as far as I know. Give it time.

Heard Sunderland say that they were hoping Trevor would be in town in the next few days, I expect more glitz and glamour when that happens

Assuming the wife and kids lived in Seattle most of the season with the odd trip to Edmonton or to meet him when the Esks were at BC Place he can easily spend considerably more time with his family without sacrificing time at the field. Simple logistics prove that there should be plenty more opportunities for him to zip home for up to a couple nights between games. Even a mid-week trip is doable. Leave the practice facility at 3 and be home in Seattle in time for dinner then hit the road north early the next day.

Seattle to BC Place - 2-1/2 hour driving time
Seattle to Surrey practice facility - closer to 2 hours
Seattle to Edmonton - 13+ hour driving time or 4 to 5 hours air travel considering time needed to get to Sea-Tac early enough + 2 hour flying time + time to get bags at YEG and get into downtown Edm.

Players always get the day following a home game off, sometimes more depending on when the next game is scheduled. Quick post game shower and he could be home in Seattle shortly after midnight and wouldn't have to head back north until morning of the first film session or whatever activity starts the prep for the next game. Or she can load the kids up in the proverbial mini-van and be up in Vancouver for the game in a matter of 2-1/2 hours. That has to be far less painful than getting down to Sea-Tac and dealing with all that it takes to fly single with 2 toddlers to Edmonton. Anybody who flies either knows of the challenges of flying with and trying to control wee ones through their own experiences or from being in the next row to somebody trying to do so. Who hasn't been waiting to get on a plane without the thought of God I hope that family with the little ones is at least 8 rows away from me. So whether it's him popping home on off days after games or during the week or her and the kids popping up to Vancouver for games and staying around until Daddy has to go back to work I think there is ample opportunity for them to spend at least 20 more days together during the season than if he was in Edmonton and them in Seattle.

Agree with the general gyst of your post. However, most players come in the next day for treatment & to watch film.

Don't quote me but I think with technology as it is today and all players being provided tablets they can start watching film almost immediately without going into the facility. I'm pretty sure I'd read a year or two ago that by the time Lions players got on their charter flights home from road games the game film was already uploaded or available to be uploaded onto their tablets so that if they chose to they could start looking at it as they flew home.

Reilly's traditionally been a guy that spends 12+ hours every day at the training facilities, but maybe that changes now that he's so close to his wife and kids.

You’re right, there’s more technology like tablets, etc to help with film review from afar. From what I can tell, most (lots of) guys still like to come in the next day, even if they don’t need treatment.
Personally, I think it’s an important part of team building, one of multiple facets. The remote film review is great for “homework” during the week.
