Sad for Konar, because he definitely has the talent...just couldn't stay off the IR.

I, personally, don't believe this had anything to do with health. He was reportedly asked to take a payout and refused. It's kind of a sh###y thing to do to a guy on the eve of camp, but I have little doubt that Adam signs elsewhere within a few days... albeit, likely at a bit of a discount due to the timing.

Understandable given the circumstance change at his position, and that the cap didn't go up as much as some of us thought it would this year, but still hard to stomach.

Mtl, Cgy and BC all make some sense based on roster and ties, but cap room with obviously factor into it.

The Esks are not a better team with this move - this has to be purely financial, (not that they have no room left, but that they couldn't justify the spend if he wasn't viewed as a starting player) and that's too bad.

would be very surprised if Calgary doesn't sign him. Right now they have Greenwood projected as a starter.

I see a #21 throwing balls here. I'm guessing it's the UofC kid.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos announced a series of roster moves Sunday after opening camp, headlined by the addition of Mikael Charland.

Charland, a defensive back from Gatineau, Que., was a second round draft pick by the Ottawa REDBLACKS in 2016.

The team has also added linebacker DJ Calhoun, defensive back Jalen Spencer, defensive lineman Kendal Vickers and linebacker Jonathan Walton, all internationals.

Veteran receiver Kenny Shaw, who was a 1,000-yard receiver in 2016 before being injured, was dropped from the roster, along with international linebacker Brandon Pittman.

Charland, still just 27 years old, likely fits into the equation at safety for the Eskimos, who could see a camp competition at the position that includes Jordan Hoover and 2018 second round pick Godfrey Onyeka.

Richards was injured and released his first day of Bomber rookie camp. Not sure if he is healthy, but the Esks must think he is close. He still has a year of CIS eligibility as well.

This transaction seems a bit unusual. Word on Bomber forums was that Richards would be gone for the year after being injured first day of camp.

Question...esp since the team store is closed today...for someone wanting to attend TC, can you show up after the session has started? Or where do you go?

Run the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.

Not very impressed with the Konar release. We release a very good starting Canadian, in a position we have depth at (with Smith and Mulumba behind him), on a roster where I don't think our Canadian talent is too deep.
Looking at training camp reports our first teams only have 6 National starters... they will still have to basically force Smith to start at receiver to make the ratio work. Plus, Santos-Knox is starting the year injured. A long time until the season starts and we see how this plays out, but off to a concerning start.

Also noticed that William Fields is a guest coach.
So despite recently leaving his post with the club for the XFL, he will help get the team set up this training camp.

I hate it as well but I'm not sure it could have been avoided if he refused to re-negotiate.

A bit surprising about Brooks. Very aggressive in his first year with B.C. Good to see we have better talent than him in camp.

I seem to recall him being on our free agent list. Likely on the last year of his Toronto contract when we traded for him. Possibly looked down south this off season and found no takers ? Can't remember us releasing him , but not sure about that.
