Doesn't seem tied to the turf, but it's amazing how much more common it seems to have become.

Predisposing factors for these guys - other than being young & male - are muscle imbalances, not enough stretching & foam rolling (honestly, they should all be doing yoga or joga 1-2 times/week), repetitive motions over time(ie not varying exercises), trying to progress too quickly with weight/sets/reps/more difficult variations.
Hard surfaces compound all of this. If anything, turf provides a tiny bit of cushioning on the concrete.

In women, it’s high heels that do it. There are also some meds that can increase risk, but unlikely all of these guys were on those.

If I'm not mistaken, there is some connection to previous ACL injuries, but I may have that backwards. It is either a previous Achilles injury that makes one more susceptible to knee injuries, or vice-versa.

You're absolutely correct though, all the evidence out there points toward preventative measures involving stretching and body preparation - though I'm sure that there are occurrences where it happens despite that.

Josiah St. John was just released by Toronto. He really hasn't developed for a former 1st overall pick, but might he make some sense to grab for some offensive line depth?

He hadn’t practiced much during TC, but did start practicing close to the end of it, but who knows if he’ll be ready for Friday?

For anyone who doesn't click on the article, here's the specific quote...

“Yeah, I think the cancer that was in the locker-room is gone,” said Eskimos kicker Sean Whyte, who is entering his 13th CFL season after joining the Eskimos mid-way through 2015. “I think Brock (Sunderland, general manager) has done an unbelievable job doing that and he knows no jerks are going to be on this team. It doesn’t matter how good you are, if you don’t fit in with this crew, you’re not going to be here.

“You can be the best player in the world and come here and if you’re a jerk and don’t fit in, you’re not going to play well. You’re not going to help the team, you’re just going to hurt us in the long-run.”
Even if it's a past issue, it doesn't reflect well to be making those kinds of comments before the start of the year.

EDIT: doesn't reflect well on Moddejonge either for publicly airing a (formerly) private locker room issue...

If I was making an honest deduction, I would probably compile a list of all those players released by the Eskimos since Brock became GM. I would probably key in on those that didn't sign with another club. Of course this doesn't eliminate those free agents that Brock let walk, but it's a start.

The results of last season make a lot more sense if there were team unity issues in the room at the time. It also explains why Maas is so focused on team building this year beyond just the fact that there’s new faces coming in.

Are you surprised? This is his modus operandi. He doesn’t understand x’s and o’s - and doesn’t care to learn - and other than Kavis & ET, nobody on the team wanted/wants to talk to him ....except players with bad judgement....

Both Kenny & Sean should know better at this point. Smh.

I was going to guess Hazelton as well, never really liked the guy. I don't know anything about him, but the way he would spin the ball in the defenders face after making a 6 yard catch on 2nd and 10 gave me a very negative impression of him. This was hardly an isolated incident either, he spun the ball after pretty much every catch.

Also, just theorizing, but is it possible that Duke let his success get to his head?

Like I said in the other thread, I know a well respected staff member didn't have much good to say about Chris Edwards and his attitude but looking over the last few posts, maybe it was a combination of guys with this type of history. (Hazelton/Edwards/Williams)
