Whoa. Does that mean Collaros might return to action? And that the greenwhites are confident that Fajardo can be their unquestioned starter??

    Interesting.

I honestly don't know if Zach is ever gonna play again. The only fortunate things about this deal for the Argos is that they didn't give up much, and that Collaros' salary is only 125k (175k was paid by the Riders in an upfront signing bonus)

I was getting to the point of him maybe not playing again.

Maybe...we don't really know the story of his health behind the scenes. I assume the Argos do. Argos will pay him about $90K for the rest of the season, which is about what you would pay a backup QB in any case.

I see it as a pretty low risk move for the Argos, since the greenwhites are taking most of his cap hit. And if they win the lottery and he returns some sort of form, then they've salvaged some part of their season.

Of course, the O-line will have to protect him first. And if he's really as fragile as the fans seem to think, then shame on the Argos for putting him on the field.

Collaros isn't the answer for Toronto. He's a sneeze away from supreme danger. They'd be better off with Bridge. Maybe they take both.

Bridge will cost them nothing in the way of trades so why not?

This may well be about his experience, mental game and locker room presence as it is about his on-field ability. I admit to being surprised that the Riders are moving him on given what has reportedly already been paid. While I share the concern that most have for his health (though not to the same degree as many), he was a very affordable insurance policy at this point in the season, behind a relatively inexperienced first-time starter. I have the good fortune of knowing a bit about the kind of person that Cody Fajardo is, and how he's regarded by guys he's played with elsewhere, but all those eggs just went into one basket with this move.

It will be interesting to see if the Argos do move on from one of their QBs, or just make a roster move to keep one on IR or PR.

As I pointed out in an earlier post - it's interesting to see the steps that struggling teams are taking to right the ship. Bringing in veteran presences like Bear Woods and Zach Collaros would seem to be moves geared toward the leadership/cultural side of things as a starting point. I agree that, from a strictly football/on-field perspective, this deal doesn't move the dial much on the Argos, but I do believe it has the potential to move them in the right direction by showing the guys in the room that they are willing to make moves for respected guys, and add to the leadership. There can often be a disconnect between what fans think of guys and what other football players think of teammates.

Adams 6-gamed by the Bummers today....

He still has 1 game to go on the 6-game IR, assuming that it follows him to Toronto?

I have to shake my head at the language used by 3DownNation in their reporting sometimes.

I wonder how a guy "officially" takes that role. Maybe it is designed to be more intriguing than, Adams on top of depth-chart against RedBlacks - will start.

With no disrespect to the job Adams has done or the work he's put in, my hunch is that, absent a clear cut starter/backup hierarchy, that it's a situation to monitor and they'll ride the hot hand. Obviously, it seems that VA is first up, and he has likely earned a decent leash with his success, but I think it's pretty premature to anoint him given that it is only Pipkin's first game back on the roster.

Intriguing games tonight. I was impressed with how the RBs responded in the second half last week, and want to see how they do with Davis back in the lineup, and the Ticat/Riders matchup with Fajardo as the recently made "official starter" against the Great Dane in his first start.

Not exactly the QB matchups one would have expected in March.

Big loss for their Dline. Kongbo being ready to play now helps them though. With Kongbo being a national, wonder how they use the extra import available now.

Cauchy and Henoc back on the same team since they were both with the Bombers in 2013.

Through 8 weeks, there have been 58 holding or illegal block calls on special teams. Last year through this time there were 56 so it’s not like the refs have relaxed penalties on returns either. It’s a return renaissance!

I was a little ticked to see this, considering that the Esks released him early for an NFL shot. You would think that he would be grateful enough to give the ESKS the first shot at signing him when he came back. That may have happened & the Esks said no thanks, we’re in good shape at CB right now....

Eds in desperation mode over there. Both his lines aren't getting the job done and are last in both sacks for and against, clear to see where the problem is as games are won and lost in the trenches.

Ed let Lemon walk in the offseason, now he had to give up an Allstar and a draft pick to get him back. I'm not sure I'd make that trade (especially given how Lemon has played so far this year).

Lions have 7 sacks this year and Coleman had 2 of them from the interior, not sure this was an upgrade but maybe they have some talent in the wings at the DT spot.

I just got back from Regina from a wedding and I just wanted to let you al know the Rider fans are fine the way the game ended in Montreal, and they wouldn't have complained if it was the other way around (and if you believe that they also have some ocean front property to sell you out there)

This trade looks awful on the surface. Trade for a guy then let him walk in FA just to turn around and trade for him again only giving up more the second time.

Plus Lemon is not exactly known for being a grounding locker room presence, which I would suggest they seem to be lacking right now.
