Just looking up league stats - in particular the woes of the BC Lions.
The offense has been frustrating to watch, but the D can't really claim to be carrying their weight. Currently the Lions are last in the league in QB sacks with 11. Their leader on D, Odell Willis hasn't had a sack since July 6th, only has two on the season. He also has only had 4 total defensive tackles in his last 4 games. Yikes.

Especially interesting considering Swerve's comments regarding Eliminiam and Manny A when they were released and knowing when guys have hit their best before date...

I think a large contributor to Odell’s drop off is that he gets double-teamed a lot - that’s why Lemon was added.
Also, he gets held a lot & it’s not called.
He’s lost a step about as much as John B ... Charleston’s still ahead of everyone...but I don’t think it’s that he (Odell) is past his best before at all.

Manny has 142 receiving yards & 0 TDs in 7 games. Not sure he’s all that any more.
Solly has 40-something tackles & 3 sacks in 8 games. Looks ok, but I’ve never been sure what it means when a LB has lots of tackles. Great that he makes them, but isn’t it also a commentary on the D-line?

There are other things to consider.
Their agent (who is also Jennings’ agent).
Old guard vs new guard in the room.
Coaches want who they want & it’s not often a GM says they cut a player bc the coaches didn’t want him (though in this case probably the other stuff didn’t need to be said & creates a distraction, which may have been the point but who knows).

I agree, though, lots of things need fixing in BC. However, the O-line & Offence in general will get the most attention for sure — 700k worth of attention! I don’t think it’s that the player talent is lacking - except maybe receiver (definitely not an EH type of receiving corps!). In my opinion, the coaching staff leaves A LOT to be desired.

VANCOUVER — The BC Lions added five players to their practice roster on Monday, with offensive lineman Josiah St. John headlining the group.

St. John, 27, was selected first overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 2016 CFL Draft. He spent three years in Regina, playing in 22 regular-season games before signing as a free agent with the Toronto Argonauts in May.

He was with the team throughout training camp, but the Argos released him in June.

During his NCAA career at the University of Oklahoma, St. John played in 15 games, starting in four of those — all during his final season with the Sooners.

The team also added defensive backs Jamie Harry, Jason Hall and Elijah Campbell, as well as defensive lineman Siupeli Anau.

Lions signing a national Olineman that has sat since June, maybe it wasn't all on Chiu who walked the plank in B.C.

It's just a PR signing. They could really use some help, but who's out there?

Eddie Steele charges out of retirement to play OL. Wasn’t he a backup here in case one went down?

Eddie has a good career taking off here in Edmonton. I dont see him dropping that for a few months of punishment.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released national kicker Gabriel Ferraro.

Ferraro has punting experience in university, but not the sort of numbers that would suggest we add him to our PR.

So it looks like the league is offering up these retro CFL logo caps via contest, but currently they aren't available for sale (just the team retros). If anyone hears of a change in this strange strategy, please post. I know lots of people out there that want to rep the league with these cool caps.

TORONTO — The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced two fines from Week 13 action on Wednesday.

Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Micah Johnson was fined for a high hit on Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback, Chris Streveler.

Edmonton Eskimos defensive back Monshadrik Hunter was fined for a high hit on Calgary Stampeders receiver Colton Hunchak.

The CFL also announced an additional fine from Week 12:

Edmonton Eskimos linebacker Blair Smith was fined for a high hit on Calgary Stampeders running back Terry Williams.

As per league policy, the amounts of the player fines were not disclosed

I don’t pay that close of attention but how come the Esks keep getting dinged with fines for earlier weeks than the last one?

It’s almost like teams whine and bitch about the the lack of a fine, so it ends up happening the next week.

Ottawa Redblacks slotback Brad Sinopoli will miss Friday's game against the BC Lions. Linebackers Avery Williams and Kevin Brown will also be unavailable for the Redblacks Friday.

Should impact fantasy picks this week (as well as improve the Lions chances to pick up their second W)

Charleston Hughes taken off depth chart for Saskatchewan after today's practice. No reason yet given by Coach Dickenson. I'd guess a day-to-day thing and nothing to serious.

Things seem to have turned a corner with the acquisition of Lemon. In the 8 games prior to his arrival BC had 7 sacks and 4 interceptions. With the BC DL suddenly finding some pressure they've recorded 9 sacks and 7 interceptions in the 4 games since.

I had been wondering if there were some depth concern overtones given Chungh had missed 3 of the previous 6 prior to St.John being added. Sure enough a couple days later Chungh was put on the 6G IR.

That team could lose their entire set of first stringers and still perform well. Even this year.
