We are going to lose some good players when everyone is healthy, provided no one stubs a toe, that a sign that our GM and scouting staff have done a fantastic job. Diggs, Usher and to a lesser extent Cooper give me some faith in our staffs ability to find value contracts.

Great article and news story on Vontae, makes it hard to not cheer for the guy.

It's true though you can also see it go the other way sometimes. I am reminded of 2017 when we were on fire with a bunch of injuries and began to lose games once some of those injured returned. Or some of those players don't regain the position. Not saying its an absolute but if Diggs continues to shine...I could see JSK relegated to backup duty or possibly released.

We have to be near the top in the league in fewest sacks allowed and have had a strong run game - time to give credit where credit is due. Similarly with the secondary - statistically, I believe we're the top pass defence in terms of yards allowed and that looks good on the guys that have played well (and the coaches).

As for the point about the depth on the D-line compared to O-Line, I think part of it is the importance of continuity is higher on the O-Line. Another part, I believe, is the cost of Can OL - where even backups can make the same or more as some American starters at other positions. The cap space eaten up by the practice of keeping extra NI backups is not inconsequential. Only going with 1 backup on the OL is risky for sure, but so is BC only dressing two QBs.
Bond was playing Guard and tackle in TC. Kelly was fine against Montreal and BC but was Owned badly by Jeffcoat and Jefferson. Constantly in a Back Pedal or letting them around if BC watches that game film I personally would place my best edge rusher against him which I am sure BC will do and cause Harris headaches all game.
Run the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.

    That would be Odell....

To counteract...run that damn ball straight at Odell and let MOD/Kelly tee off on him. Odell's run defense has never been his specialty.

Last time these teams met, Burnham was lined up across from Glass and I thought he would have a big game. Didn’t happen.

This time he is lined up against Hunter. Once again, if Reilly does get time to throw the ball, I think they can exploit that.

I expect White to be way more involved in their offence this week as well.

I’m expecting a more difficult match this time around. Go Esks!

Gonna be a tough one tonight....

Topped with the magnitude of getting a series win this early is adding more to it..

More worried than the first one as I feel we always play poorly in bc ( Iím sure Parkies will give me the actual numbers ) but it just feels like we let games slip in bc more than anywhere else

We are 52-44-3 all time in BC but we are 4 wins and 9 losses since 2011, so I can see how you feel that way.

I also loved how Claybrooks said he felt the Lions should have beat us easily in the first match-up

That's some good builtin board material right there.

Wondering what kind of a bounce back game Johnson is going to have as I think he struggled a bit against the Bombers. Will be interesting to see how they deal with our receivers and the upgrade we made with Daniels drawing in.

BC played Saturday night in TO. This is a very quick turn around for them and we're off a bye.... gotta hammer them, those will be sore bodies and tired legs.
"This year, we did what we were supposed to do. We fought as a team. We fought as a team. And the fact is, we gotta go back and go to work, to make sure we finish this next time. That's all we gotta do. This right here makes us stronger. Let's understand who we are as a team. Let's understand this right here makes us stronger." - Ray Lewis, January, 2012.

Re: Eskimos vs Lions Act 2

Eskimos have had 5 post-bye-week games in the past 2 years.

    2017
    Win 23-21 over Ottawa
    Loss 28-19 to Winnipeg
    2018
    Win 44-23 over Montreal
    Loss 28-15 to Ottawa
    Loss 28-19 to Winnipeg

I actually thought our record in this situation was worse.

I read somewhere earlier today that we're 7-4 off of bye weeks in the last 11.

Found it back, in the cfl.ca preview of tonight's game:

    7 — Since 2012, Edmonton is 7-4 when they’re playing after a bye week.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.

I'll double check - I came up with 6-5 (I did not count the bye in the last week of 2015 which resulted in a win in the Western Final a couple weeks later)

    My bad - yes 7-4

Honestly there's just no reason to win this game given the scheduling effects. I know I'll be the first to say we have a scheduled loss coming when it's coming so making hay when the schedule makers do this is imperative.

Well no clearer indication that Bazzie has had his job taken by Usher...

    Pretty simple on this one:

-Make the front 7 show they can stop Gable.
-Make that Oline show they aren't swiss cheese.

    Something like that

Prediction: D balls out, Collins and Daniels both go over 100 yards.... 33-17 win.

He's been very good this year but Draheim got absolutely schooled two plays in a row there and got Gable blown up on both of them.
