So looks like maybe the CFL wont have to worry about competing with the XFL for players going forward...looks like Marc Trestman especially got soaked which is unfortunatehttps://3downnation.com/2020/04/13/t...ally-for-sale/

I'm old school - I'd go Moon, Pitts, and Reed.
All nine are amazing athletes and CFLers.

Yeah, I'd love to see the Eskimos have it's own brew. Again, because we are a community owned team, perhaps some tie in to a worthy charity could get the right brewery to get it's foot in the door with the organization.

Holly crap! The vile in the comments section.

Governments have caused financial harm to the league why shouldn't they be getting support?

Yeah, if we can bail out basically every other industry, I can't see why CFL is any different. It's not like it is a big money league like NFL, NBA, NHL, etc that can sustain a fairly large hit to their bottom line and come out okay. A wiped out year could very well kill a couple franchises.

I particularly find the sentiment that sports shouldn't see it as they make too much money when applying it to the CFL. Well most of the CFL staff including players actually make less money than staff of many of the large industries that have their hands in the cookie jar right now looking for help.

Hey, good on them for the ask. The way Trudeau is handing out money it's worth a shot.

And it's not $150 million right off the bat. It's $30 million and then depending what happens from there it could increase with certain benchmarks that the league has set out.

The Lakers asked for $4 million from the government under the Small Business loan program and GOT IT! So why can't the CFL ask for some help too?

Re: Around the CFL - 2020

Some people are going to hate on the CFL no matter what. I donít get why but it is what it is.

But the idea that the CFL as an entertainment product should somehow be void from receiving financial aid is ludicrous. The government has placed restrictions that make it impossible for the league to do business, of course they should be eligible for aid.

They wonít get what they are asking for, but hopefully they get something because if a 100 year old league gets snuffed out because of this ****ing virus, I and many others will be completely devastated.

This CFL bail out because of COVID 19 should have it's OWN thread..Not BURIED into CFL 2020..MODS please consider giving it a separate thread, so we do not have to "search" for it. Much appreciated

It’s draft day and tbh it just ain’t hitting like years past.... this whole covid situation has put all the fun stuff in life, sports, travel , family etc in the corner and covered it with a blanket.. now your either of work and stuck at home and can’t see anyone or like me, still at work worrying about child care your wife as she works in pharmacy and your family because u don’t really know how they are coping..

I’ll be honest I just don’t care about the draft at this point, I don’t think there will be a cfl season ( just like my own coaching season was put on hold in March and wont be back ) it’s all relative at this point..

Worlds a ****ed up place at the minute....

I think everyone, or at least me, is just sick of the doom and gloom and don't want more of it to talk about. I spend my nights now watching mindless comedies like the Office, as the negative news overload is weighing on me. That and there really isn't anything to talk about per say.

Trudeau is going to give them some money. Might not be the whole $150 million, but they will get the bailout. The CFL employs thousands of full and part-time people and Grey Cup itself it always an economic driver for the host city.
    Currently Playing: Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4), Red Dead Redemption 2 (PS4), NHL 20 (PS4), FIFA 20 (PS4), Disco Elysium (PC)

Yeah, I was expecting that. I don't like it, but at least he's being realistic.

Questions will start coming now regarding those of us who are currently paying for season tickets.

Too bad. This was my 25th year as a season ticket holder. My name going up on the plaque. Guess I won't see it until 2021 now.
