I’m sure Mike isn’t the only player, shorted by what’s happened ... it sucks but there are guys who play for pennies compaired to what Mike gets..

Plus on the inside the immature fan in me is laughing... at the irony of it all..

Totally agree with you on all points but I do have sympathy as I know what it's like to have commitments and then discover income has been terminated. I hope Mike had saved some cash for "a rainy day".

Veteran quarterback Mike Reilly filed a grievance against the Lions in September for guaranteed money allegedly owed to him by the franchise.

According to league sources, when Reilly signed his four-year contract worth $2.9 million in February 2019 ó averaging $725,000 per season, which made him the highest-paid player in the CFL ó there was additional paperwork that accompanied it.

The two sides inked an agreement that guaranteed the veteran QB a sizeable portion of his salary ó believed to be in the $250,000 range. There is no language or wording in the collective bargaining agreement that prohibits teams from guaranteeing cash to players.
I wonder if this is one of the factors that lead to Hervey jumping ship?

Farhan is saying on twitter than Rick Lelacheur was not aware about the guaranteed portion of Reilly's salary, and "it is believed that this situation led to Ed Hervey's departure from the club".
    Is it game day yet?????

Farhan is saying (it sounds like) Hervey never filed the paperwork with CFL offices that included the guaranteed money. Audio link here:

Wow that looks really bad on Hervey...

I'd be surprised if he ever gets another CFL GM job pulling something like that.

    Ummm, what?

Hervey is done in the CFL after this stunt. Didn't tell the President of the club what he was doing? No one will want him running their club.

Hmm I wonder what Dr. Rorschach would say about that.

Pretty sure I failed the Rorshach test... Everything looked like boobs. Doctor said I thought about women too much. I asked him to stop showing me dirty pictures then...

Re: Around the CFL - 2020

So they are coming up to Grey Cup weekend and there is finally something from the league about trying to get a schedule for next year. I had hoped that with the decision to shut the league down, the league would at least use the time to reset, look at EVERYTHING about how they operate and institute changes to try and strengthen the league as a whole. But so far we have heard:

    - teams getting pressured to change their name and agreeing to do it
    - long term staff getting fired
    - owners dying
    - league execs up and quitting
    - contract disputes and players not getting paid guaranteed money.

I am sure there is more I forgot about but I can't seem to remember a single thing that was remotely positive to date about the league. I guess if you call the Argos going back to their old boat logo a positive, then I guess that's 1. Maybe it's a big deal in Toronto but for the rest of the league? Now maybe they are doing the things I hoped for and it's coming but it sure doesn't seem like it because so far all we have heard of is more negative or at least things that don't exactly give off much excitement that things will get better.

When it comes to the Esks, so far they have decided to change the name thanks to outside pressure. They fired their beloved, legendary, extremely well known, well respected equipment managers after 49 yrs without so much as a thank you for your service. We have heard they are most likely to keep the team colors but at this point don't know if they will keep the logo and have no clue about a new name. If it was me and I knew changing the name was extremely unpopular amongst the fan base which I am sure it was, I'd be reaching out to the fans as much as possible to get feed back, run ideas by them, get their ideas, etc to try and engage them and maybe win some of them over. Rather than what will probably happen - dumping a new name and maybe a new logo on us all and say "here's our new name and logo, we expect you to get excited and to go buy stuff".
Blindly accept whatever they do and if it doesn't work out, I guess there's always next year.

I don't hate this schedule at all to be honest. One Thursday home game for us.

That Wednesday September 1st game is weird though.

My issue is that they only have 1 home game between August 19th and October 9th. What a waste of an opportunity to market around the Labour Day game, they disappear for four weeks after it, and then the final two games are hard to market games vs. Toronto and Hamilton when it's coldest.

Would like to give a little plug for the CFLPA player card packs available at CFLPA.com as potential stocking stuffers for young fans. The cards are cool and the cause is good. Still time to get it done.

    However it goes, good luck.
