Well damn! I was planning on taking my family down to Calgary to catch a lacrosse game, but the NLL has suspended their season.

My vacations usually consist of camping events, but I cashed in my air miles for a flight and booked the end of May off so I could come see my first ever Eskimo's training camp live. I'm starting to wonder what the situation is gonna be like in a couple months - better or worse?

My guess is that if they act now, things will be back to normal within a few months. I was living in Toronto during SARS, and the biggest impact was about a month, and then things started to resume back to normal slowly after that.

    Hockey is gone.

I guess this is the only entertainment we've got to look forward to now:

Down here in the Hat, we were scheduled to have 5500+ come to our venue for Brad Paisley tonight. Nope. Doors are locked, and we're preparing to take the ice out next week. Not likely the WHL will be coming back until the fall.

Even if Canada manages to flatten our curve and gets things under control within a couple months, gotta figure that the NHL isn't coming back this season because the US and their amazing leadership is screwing things up so badly.

I'll bet a nickel that the NHL finishes the season and playoffs. I don't believe this"we're going to be self-isolating until September" stuff one bit. None of the data backs it up. I'll be back in my office by June at the latest.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Sounds like it could become quite addictive. Just be careful you don't "lose your marbles."

    Marbula One!

That’s the one my family has been watching. We each drafted a team and watch it every weekend to get some sort of sports fix.

    It’s also quite well produced.

I really enjoy The Voice through "the blinds". Not so much on everything after.
... but at least there is competition. Vegas probably has lines on it

IF we get sports in sept, it'll be a great month for golf. Ryder Cup and US open.

    Re: Coronavirus and Sports

Anyone who thinks that pro sports is done for 2020 is fooling themselves.

And quite frankly, locking society down simply cannot go on for another 6 months. Even with aid programs there won't be an economy left to go back to. I don't think people fully understand that.

I ordered some food from a local restaurant the other day and I had a chance to speak with the owner. She said her revenue is down 60%. Even without staff costs, she still pays $5000 a month in rent and all the other "lights on" costs. If she's not allowed to serve people in person by August she won't survive. She and many others like her, will be ruined.

Older folks are the people on the front lines of this war against the virus. They're the ones who are by far at the greatest risk of dying.

Everyone is suffering in this war. Let's support each other.
