Attention No threads on the possible cancellation of the season?

I understand you have your way of doing things here. But, the season, and in fact the league are in real jeopardy. Not a single thread tracking how Covid could sink the entire CFL. I have to read on the forums of other teams to find out any news.

I read on the Saskatchewan forum that the Commissioner, Ambrosie went before a committee to ask for $150 million dollars. And it didnít sound good. But, all I see here is a thread about what the Eskimos need for players. For a season that is likely cancelled.

Do any of you know about this? Does anybody care?

    I honestly donít understand it.

It's been discussed ad nauseum on quite a few threads here. We just haven't gotten around to dedicating a thread to it apparently.

We've been gathering conversations in a smaller number of threads. Believe me, we've talked about it a lot. Check the threads on CFL 2020.

Lately that's all that's being discussed in the Around the CFL - 2020 thread.

With so much uncertainty, what is the point of navel gazing to the nth degree?

Great for the flatlanders who do that with everything already, but until we know what the outcomes actually are, you could go crazy with the what ifs.

Instead of making stupid ass comments like " Do any of you know this?" or "Does anyone care" you could... MAKE THE THREAD YOURSELF if you feel there should be a need for it - but like others have said its been talked and talked about in numerous threads..

Plus we can actually follow thoughts in numerous threads we dont need a specified thread to help guide us where to post/talk - unlike the inbreds.

If Iím only concerned with a specific topic. Why should I have to scroll through a pile of unrelated stuff? It was the biggest and only topic that really mattered. Youíre telling me that I had to leave the Edmonton Eskimos sub forum. And go to the CFL sub forum to actually read about the most important topic in the history of the League?

Yes I created the topic. I guess I was hoping for serious discussion about that specific topic. I donít find making a topic once a year to talk about absolutely everything is the way to go. I acknowledged you have your ways. Thank you for your replies.

    To each their own.
Personally, I'm fine discussing a non season on the "Around the CFL 2020 thread". Considering the limited amount of activity on this site recently, the less threads I have to check in on, the better for me.

Particularly when the primary thing being talked about in said thread is basically whether or not the season will proceed.

The ďactivityĒ of the site. Maybe thatís the problem? I have noticed a significant down turn in activity in just 2 years. Something tells me the site was much more popular at some point in time. Alot of what I read here revolves around how the team and league in general hasnít changed with the times and is dying because of it. Yet it seems the site is just fine with the status quo. I guess being newer and able to see a bigger picture gives me an insight many of you are incapable of. Itís not a knock but an observation.

You can excuse and defend all you want. But if you donít care why should anybody else? Times change much like the name of the team. But certain people will never change. If you canít adapt you become extinct. That shouldnít have to be explained.

I think a lot of people have turned to Twitter for sports interactions, for better or worse.

The Feds denied the league’s request for an interest free loan. I don’t think that there is any chance that we will see any football this year.

The possibility will be snuffed out by the BOG tomorrow.

I prefer this site. Twitter is toxic. It's where people go to turn into the more sanctimonious, mean, think skinned versions of themselves.

I have a lot of complaints about the CFL, but I remain a fan and I want to talk about it. And honestly, we get more civil discussions of non-football topics here than almost anywhere. Mind you, many of us have been mates on here for many years. I've been here for almost 17 years.

Twitter's fun for quick takes, quick updates on news and snipes with opposing team fans unless it gets disrespectful. Boards will always be better for actual conversation though.

Every time I put something on Twitter I'm so distracted thinking by the character limit that it impacts the message I am trying to send.

I don't tweet. I use twitter go get information rapidly. It serves no other purpose than to degrade our discourse.

    Twitter's for porn... and hate.
Instagram's for tasteful porn... and dogs.
Facebook is for old people to say racist and low key hate speech... What? Is that just MY parents?
Esksfans is for all of the good stuff and none of the bad stuff!! I mean, sure there are a few guys here that constantly nag each other but I honestly can't tell if it's good natured or they genuinely hate each other. (You know who you are!) I do remember someone saying this board shouldn't have threads on politics, or recipies etc. but I think for the most part, everyone here likes the variety of topics and if they really don't like what someone else is saying they'll mute them.

You got it. The great thing about this site is that stuff is in different threads in the General Discussion Forum. It is very easy to stay away from it if you truly want to avoid it. Tougher to filter it from your facebook or twitter stream. There are posters on this site that have very different views on politics (or recipies ). I try not to make that a factor when I am talking football with the same folk; totally different discussion.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are

Thud, oh well looks like we get longer to think up a new name if the league survives.

Also, the feds just handing out billions to everyone and their dog and they can't spring for a loan to the CFL.

Over the years the amount of money given to privates business is astounding and yet the league gets an f you.

Currently the CFL is dead to me, strip my team of their name, I have lost interest.

And I’m not sure how to get that interest back.

Unfortunately they have half the Raptors games so I'll have to keep it for now.
