So the EEFC have announced what the final 7 are and while none of them are Eskimos...here's the choices we have.

According to the folks over at the Toronto Sports Network the finalist are:

Elk;
Evergreens;
Eclipse;
Elkhounds;
Evergolds;
Eagles;
Elements.

Evergolds? I had to Google that term and found out that Evergold is a type of Japanese ornamental grass. So, in other words, perfect for an an Edmonton sports team. Just think, the team could come out on the field after a giant gong is struck and our mascot could be a sumo wrestler.

Seriously though how could they spend so much time and money on this and still come up with names that all suck. The only one that is marginally acceptable IMO is Eagles.

X2 Eagles is at least a decent name I could get behind. I would have voted for Empire. I might be able to stomach Elk or Elkhounds. If they pick any of the other 4 well it'll just be a joke IMO.

I'm guessing that the team has done their due diligence when it comes to the Eagles name, cause if the NFL team took exception to it, we could be going through this all again.

None of the names excite me all that much but Eagles is the top for me

Yes, and that's really unfortunate. We have a good team moving forward and this branding should be as close to a unifying exercise as there is - though I know many of us will call them the Eskimos forever, as we should. There's a few names there that I just can't see anyone getting behind, but you kind of hope that's the point so that people will rally around the better names of this bunch. Unfortunately, they're mostly bad, so it's not implausible that this could go a bit sideways.

Against every ounce of my being I voted Eagles..

The team has obv skewered the options so it is only ever going to be elk or eagles.. then take into account I want us to be predatory and an elk has four legs like a horse which is to close to the slapstick’s up the road... so that left me with Eagles and I ****ing hate Eagles..

I voted for Evergolds. If I was voting on what I wanted the name to be I would ay none of the above. What I think that it will be is the dumbest name of the available choices hence my vote.
