This one deserves its own thread... for all he has been and done for the team.
Go with grace and honour, Calvin. We have loved having you with us these many, many years.
Once. Always.

Out of my mind; back in five minutes.
“RUN THE DANG BALL!" -Leigh Anne Tuohy character from the film The Blind Side
"Next time, take a case of Pil into the huddle. If you don't get a beer, get the hell off the field!" -New special teams coach for the Riders
"When the Eskimos are out on defense it looks like there are two or three number 47s out there." -Duane Ford
"...I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, I enjoy the banter though..." -Looner
I really believe he was underutilized as a receiver out of the backfield. Great hands, and in tandem with a scatback drawing attention from the D, Calvin could have racked up some amazing career numbers.
Best in retirement to you Calvin. Thank-you for being a leader on and off the field and representing the team so well.
Hope, at the end of the day connects us all, no matter how different we are
Adam Braidwoods gift to us.
Extremely valuable player for a lot of years.
Will be talk of wall of honour for him I would think.
Amazing Career all the best CM
Run the Ball up the gut around the horn it does not matter. We run we win what is so difficult to understand.
Calvin may have been one of the most versatile players to don the green & gold.
Thanks for memories Calvin, best of luck in the future.
Totally under utilized. Great guy and an amazing work ethic mixed with wicked hands and desire to do what needed to be done. Will be missed by the fans and the offence when his blocking isn’t there anymore.
Gratz on a great career though Cal.

Once an Eskimo, ALWAYS an Eskimo.
I knew the day would come but that doesn't make it any easier. He epitomized everything positive, was incredibly talented and dependable and did everything asked of him. Team always came first. I am lucky to have seen all his games. He has left some huge shoes to be filled. I doubt we will see his level of commitment and talent again for years. Best of luck in your next endeavors Calvin. Your strength of character will serve you well.
Thanks for everything cmc.
1 club man..

Hell of a man who did a hell of a job.
Congrats on a great career Calvin. Hopefully he's involved in the CFL somewhere down the road.
Calvin McCarty was Edmonton Eskimos.
He was the guy you could always count on both on the field and off. Underrated yet invaluable.
Thanks, Calvin. All the best.

Calvin was a great player for the team, but an even better man off the field, IMO.
As much as I love the guy, I don't see that happening. Tons of "Great guys" before Calvin have never got a sniff of the wall, that 100% deserve it IMO. I could name 20 people that I think should be up there before CMac, as can I'm sure many people on this site -- to name a few: Ted Tully, Annis Stukus, Ron Forwick, Charlie Turner, Howie Schumm, Jed Roberts, Long Gone Thomas, Jim Germany, Joe Hollimon, and the list goes on and on and on.

He was amazing both on and off the field. I agree that he could have racked up a lot more receiving yards but they kept him back there for his blocking. Kept Mike Reilly alive long enough to make some of those deep attacks. My teen daughter met him in Ottawa, 2017 after the game. Talked with her about football a bit, took a pic and gave her his game gloves. The next year she was sporting a new jersey with his number. In 2019, he signed it for her.
There are better things in the world than beer but beer sort of compensates for not getting them.
Nice story up on the CFL website...https://www.cfl.ca/2021/03/26/landry...otball-future/
